When I practiced in the ER I knew billing was bad, but I didn't know about all of the (non-emergency) alternatives. I tested the concept by going to a non-hospital affiliated imaging center and found I could get an XR series for $60! Haven't looked back since.

Just a footnote: I don't think there's a such term as transgender procedures. They generally refer to the procedure by the specific name of it. More important, the majority of transgender folks don't get surgery, contrary to popular belief. But what you meant is right on -- these are money-making procedures.
Of course, but most people don’t know what you mean if you say the technical terms. They know exactly what you mean when you say trans procedures. I count that as everything from cutting parts off, making fake parts, and all the hormone-related malpractice that is most common. As you can tell, I’m completely done speaking politely about this medical abomination that erases gay people and erases women. Over it.
Yes, speak out about the medical malpractice — that’s needed. But of the several hundred trans individuals I’ve met, a lot of them would join our health freedom side if the health freedom movement didn’t make so many dehumanizing remarks about them.
‘Transgender procedures,’ on the other hand, makes it sound as if getting surgery (the part done in hospitals) is what makes someone transgender. It would be like calling breast augmentation “women’s procedures.” And even if I chose to get a boob job, I wouldn’t want to be defined by it.
